Michael Deans has been a professional saxophonist for over four decades.  He followed his father, Mickey, uncles and older brother into the music profession where he was lucky enough to serve his apprenticeship in the final days of the dance band era.  He quickly moved to London where he  survived  the heady excesses of the sixties and seventies playing with rock, soul and show bands, including an extended period as musical director for Gino Washington’s Ram Jam band.

After a spell working with the touring companies of West End musicals and playing the cabaret circuit he returned to Glasgow where he also returned to his jazz roots.

He has led his own band for over ten years, playing a wide variety of styles within the jazz idiom - be-bop, standards, latin, funk etc.  and they regularly play festivals, clubs, pubs and functions throughout the country.

The highlight of a long and varied career has undoubtedly been playing with the quintet for a week in the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.
